Introduction

The support for G2 templates has been provided to the below listed cloud applications, allowing users to utilize these templates and make modifications based on the supported operators for alerting and component filters.

The G2 templates designed for cloud applications are located on the TEMPLATES page.

Under Advanced search, you need to select G2 under the Generation drop-down list. See Search for a Template for more details on searching for a template.

You can use the existing global G2 templates or have the option to copy the existing template and modify the provided component thresholds and filter information.

To modify the template:

1. Navigate to Setup > Monitoring.

2. Under Monitoring, click Templates.
   The TEMPLATES listing page is displayed.

3. Search for the template and select the G2 template you want to copy.

4. Click Copy to copy the template.
   Click Yes on the dialog box to duplicate the selected template.

5. Enter the Template Name and click Save.
   The duplicate template is saved.

6. On the TEMPLATES page, select the duplicate template you saved.

7. Click Edit on the Monitor Template page.

8. Click Next.

9. In the Monitors section, click the edit icon for the metric name you want to modify.

   

10. Configure component filters to monitor specific components of the metric.

    

11. Configure component thresholds to get alerting for a specific component of a metric.

    

Supported Operators for Alerting: ==, >=, >, <, <=, !=, In Range, Out of range, In List, Not in list.
Supported Operators for Component Filters: Contains, Not contains, Equals, Not equals, Equals Ignore Case, Not Equals Ignore Case, Starts with, Ends with.

10. Click Save.
    The template is saved with the changes.

Priority Template Generation

Within the OpsRamp monitoring system, both G1 and G2 templates support cloud applications monitoring. Here is how the data retrieval is managed based on the template priority:

• Single template scenario: If a device is associated with either a G1 or G2 template, the metric data is retrieved according to the metrics specified within the template.
• Dual template scenario: In cases where a device is associated with both G1 and G2 templates, the metric data will be retrieved for the metrics listed in the G2 template.

Threshold Priority Consideration

This section describes how threshold priorities are considered and applied in a monitoring system. This prioritization helps determine which thresholds take precedence in different scenarios to ensure effective monitoring.

• If components exists: resource-level component threshold > resource-level threshold > template-level component threshold > template-level threshold.
• If a component does not exists: resource-level threshold > template-level threshold.
